Helping Patients to Return to Their Normal Lives Through Therapy
At Bethesda Rehabilitation Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, we are dedicated to providing a variety of therapy services to help our patients. We will be with you every step of the way.
Occupational Therapy
This kind of therapy focuses on helping patients in doing things they want and need to do. We will assist people of all ages in preparing themselves to return to their daily lives. Through this program, your physical and cognitive skills will be enhanced. This will also allow you to improve your self-esteem, self-worth, and self-respect
Our Approach
At our facility, we ensure that all patients get the maximum opportunity to gain cognitive, neurological, and motor skills. We do this by providing individualized treatment designed according to their needs.
Our OT Focus
Let us help you get back to your normal life. You will be guided by a Lymphedema certified OT throughout this program.
This focuses on the standardized testing drive for the specific deficits of each patient.
It includes feeding, dressing, bathing, hygiene, and toileting, which includes non-invasive incontinence training.
Patients will be taught to complete different chores, such as cooking, nail hygiene, shopping, and daily task scheduling.
This involves your fine motor skills, training, and functional electrical stimulation during any active participation in motivational activities from all aspects of daily living. Other neurodevelopmental techniques will be applied to control hyper/hypotonicity of the UE and hand.
Models of approach will be used, including Allen's Cognitive Disability Model and Vona du Toit Model of Creative Ability (VdTMoCA). Through this, your reading, writing, and sensorimotor skills will be enhanced.
This will also be addressed so that it will not get worse. We utilize our extensive training on spatial orientation and the use of tactile discrimination skills to patients. Aside from that, you can also be sure that we will use poor vision adaptive equipment.
